Data We Collect

Dual Subtitles does not collect, transmit, or store any personal data on external servers. All user preferences (selected languages, subtitle appearance, API key) are stored locally on your device using Chrome’s built-in storage API and never leave your browser.

External Services

To provide its features, the extension makes requests to the following third-party services:

• Google Translate — to translate subtitle text
• Dictionary API (dictionaryapi.dev) — for word definitions
• Wikimedia Commons / Wikipedia — for word images and context
• Google Gemini (optional) — only if the user provides their own API key

These requests contain only the word or subtitle text being looked up. No user identity, account information, or browsing history is transmitted.
